Notice of Project Planning Public Meeting – Dowagiac DWSRF

The City of Dowagiac (City) will hold a public meeting on proposed water system improvement projects for the purpose of receiving comments from interested persons. Prein&Newhof is working with the City to develop a project planning document to apply for funding from the State of Michigan.

The public meeting will be held during the regular City Council meeting at 7:00PM on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the City of Dowagiac City Hall located at 241 S. Front Street, Dowagiac, MI, 49047.

The purpose of the proposed projects is to improve the water quality and reliability by constructing a new water treatment plant, replacing lead service lines, constructing new water main, improving the Riverside Standpipe.

Copies of the plan detailing the proposed project are available for inspection at the following location(s):

Electric
Responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining all the City's electrical power distribution and transmission lines, installing new electrical lines and services to residents and businesses, and installing and maintaining street lights and security lights.

Water & Sewer
Responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing water and sewer mains, valves, water and sewer service connections, and water meter installation, repair and reading.

Streets & Bridges
Responsible for maintaining and repairing City streets, alleys, bridges, curbs and gutters, and street right-of-ways; installing and repairing street signs, stop signs, and directional signs; street sweeping; and clearing the streets of snow and ice in the winter.

Services
Responsible for adjusting, testing, calibrating, repairing and installing electric and water services and meters, performs other electric and water repair and service activities, reads the electric and water meters that are used to bill residents for their utilities, and investigates and resolves customer complaints.
